The Land Of Which People Dream

Recently I heard a song called "America" by Brittini Black, and I was deeply touched by the song, but the chorus had the biggest impact on me.

 "America, I hear you calling me
Sweet land of liberty, I'm on my way
America, beckoning with open arms
I long to feel the warmth of freedom's flame
God has given hope a name, America"

 In today's society all we hear on the news is persecution of Christian businesses with this gay pride movement. It's all about discrimination, "if you don't support gay marriage your business needs to be shut down". There is never anything wholesome or good on the news, it's all about scandals and racism. When we hear all this stuff we think we have it so bad, but there are people in other countries who long for "this".

 They long to have freedom of speech, of religion, the right to bear arms. I think so many times throughout the year we take our country for granted. It's true we have holidays set in place to remember our country and our soldiers, but we need to remember it year round! Because of the courage the pilgrims, our forefathers and our soldiers displayed,  I am free to voice my opinions, go to church where I want, and own a gun if I choose. I have freedom to do what I want to do, as long as I abide by the laws (but not all freedoms are wise choices)!!

 I guess what I'm trying to say is, this Memorial Day weekend, as we remember the wars we fought and our fallen soldiers, take extra time out of your weekend to remember all the freedoms they've fought for. Also remember the people in foreign countries that long to have the freedom that you have.
DON'T TAKE YOUR FREEDOM FOR GRANTED!!!

I've never been one to hide my feelings on certain matters. I'm not afraid to speak my mind, voice my opinion.  I apologize in advance if what I say in this blog offends you. There is a song called " Preacher Tell Me Like It Is" by Greater Vision. It talks about how the preachers aren't confronting sins anymore. They're just preaching the "it's okay to come to church and not change and still call yourself a Christian" message.  In the song, the saints are telling the preacher that they want to  hear the truth no matter the pain it will bring them. Today's  preachers have gotten away from preaching about hell and about sins. We think that if people get saved the right way but still sin they can still make it to heaven. No one talks about the fact that after you repent, receive the Holy Ghost, and get baptized there is still sin and you can still end up going to hell. When Underestimation Becomes Motivation

A few months ago I got my learners' permit. Since then my dad has been attempting to teach me how to drive. Besides the issue of my spasticity, the biggest problem I'm having is parking straight. And a few days ago I parked straight for the very first time. And to be honest I was VERY proud of myself!  I started to think about the time that I went to the neurologist, I was about thirteen or fourteen (it was about time that I should've been getting my permit). My mom and I asked the neurologist if he thought I'd ever be able to drive; after checking my reflexes, his answer was "no". When he answered, he underestimated my abilities. It wasn't until recently when I parked straight that I came to that realization.  Coming to this realization made me think about the many times people have underestimated me or my ability to do something.
